South London Singer/Songwriter, Rainy Milo, Shares her Inspirations, Dream Collab & More!
Who is Rainy Milo? What do you want to be known for in this lifetime?
I am a singer songwriter from London. I’d love to be known for being an artist who was always open and honest through their work no matter what creative outlet I was expressing through.
Who/What inspired you to become an artist?
I just always loved music it has always inspired me and been there for me on my best and worst days so it doesn’t surprise me that I just naturally fell into being an artist.
One of my favorite songs by you is “Hope & Glory”! Your music gives me a mixture of R&B, Soul, and Jazz feels. Where do you draw your inspiration from when it comes to creating your music?
I draw inspiration from pretty much everywhere; sonically I pull from artists like N.E.R.D and Sade. Lyrically I draw inspiration from my real life, conversations I over hear and outlandish stuff my girlfriends say in our group chat.
Who are some of the artist you would love to collab with in the near future? *let’s speak it into existence*
I would be happy to even sit in on a Frank Ocean studio session to be honest.
Who/What inspires your style?
I’m inspired by 90’s supermodels I love looking at pictures of outfits the girls like Naomi and Christy would wear on their days off.
Describe your style in three words!
Classic meets future.
Favorite women of color to follow on Instagram?
I love my close girlfriends page @eenahsanairb she has great street style and my best friend @cece_namas page I love to watch her dance.
What’s your favorite album out right now & why?
Sade Love Deluxe, it just never fails me!
What are your self-care rituals/tips? How do you stay looking so bomb!?
Self-care ritual number 1: Stop worrying about these boys! I swear my skin cleared up when I stopped letting boys stress me out. 2, I almost drink a gallon of water a day annoying as it is to hear, you gotta drink water baby girl. I can actually feel myself getting in a bad mood if I’m not hydrated enough.
What was your 1.11ven moment /a time you realized you could do anything you set out to do?
When I was on set for the Christoper Robin movie it was the first time I’d done anything like it, the set was huge. There were hundreds of extras there and to be truthful it was scary af but I told myself if I can make it through the first take I can do anything. I did it and the rest of the day was so much fun. The best things in life and the most fun are usually had on the other side of fear.
If you could give one piece of advice to women out there, what would it be?
Do YOU sis…and even if you don’t know what it is you want to do I’m sure you know what you don’t want so work from there. AND stop letting other people’s seeds of doubt grow in your mind. Believe in yourself.
What are some upcoming projects that we can expect to see you flourish in?
I can’t wait for you all to hear new music from me this year. Much love to everyone who’s ever taken the time out to hear what I have to say, you’re the best!
